Palos Verdes Peninsula
The Palos Verdes Peninsula (from Spanish Palos Verdes "Green sticks") is located in the South Bay region, the peninsula contains a group of affluent cities in the Palos Verdes Hills, including Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills and Rolling Hills Estates. In 1846 Jose Sepulveda received the land as part of the Mexican Land Grant and some years later it has been sold to an enterprenuer who had leased it to Japanese farmers. In 1940 a group of wealthy east coast investors acquired the land and quickly started a new development called "Palos Verdes". Today the area is known with the beautiful views over the Ocean and consistently ranking as one of the most expensive real estates in the country.
